Active rest is a phrase “coined” by athletes. These athletes would adjust their training loads to a recovery day i.e. do an activity not normally done on their designated rest day.In terms of TransformHERS, I see active rest as actively being on a break from TransformHERS training, but not being sedentary!
This means, while you are packing your bikini for the beach or binoculars for the bus, don’t forget about your training shoes!! Going for a 30 min walk or run on holiday about every 2nd to 3rd day is a great way to keep active.
The benefits of active rest:
Less risk of injury on return to training i.e. avoid too much too soon syndrome
Maintain fitness and body mass index
